Service fees

Please call Damian on 0402 476 727 and ask how to get the best value-for-money service to suit you.

Many people find it can be well worthwhile to invest in mental health to enhance wellbeing, relationships or occupational functioning (or sometimes all three).

Due to ongoing training and operating costs, bulk billing via Medicare is not available at this service.  For example, training costs include 30 hours of annual training and supervision – much of which needs to be on topics of specific relevance to clinical psychologists.

Importantly, studies have found that fee-paying therapy is overall more effective than bulk billing or highly subsidised regimes.

REBATES MAY BE AVAILABLE

Services at Human Kind Psychology usually attract various government rebates and insurance schemes – including Medicare, most private health insurers, and several types of funding under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

FEE FOR SERVICE and possible REBATES

  • Fees at Human Kind Psychology are competitive, especially given 17 years’ experience is part of the deal.
  • Fees are set lower than that recommended by the Australian Psychological Society.
  • There is a possible Medicare rebate of $145 per session, for a set number of sessions per year, if you have a valid referral from a GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist.
  • NDIS participants who have Capacity Building funds for “improved daily living skills”; and who are self-managing the funds or have a plan-manager can use these to offset the fee.  Please note, that NDIS funds which are paid directly via the NDIA, cannot be used to pay for services. Also NDIS funds for “improved relationships” cannot be used to pay for services.

FEES FOR REPORTS AND SUPPORT LETTERS

A fee is charged per hour for interviews and report-writing for all assessment reports (e.g. intelligence, autism) as well as support letters to try to help you seek consideration of needs in situations regarding court cases, study issues, employment issues or family violence.   *There are no rebates for such letters or reports.

  • Minimum cost is one hour, for writing a one page letter providing a brief non-comprehensive opinion on symptoms, likely causes, and treatment required.  However, please note: two sessions are required to be able to form an accurate support letter or report.   Thus the total cost will be 2 x hour long sessions, and then per hour for the report.
  • Comprehensive intellectual / education assessments typically take 4-8 hours of work.
  • Comprehensive diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders typically takes 8-10 hours a (rebate of over $240 may be available through Medicare for children).  Reports are typically up to around $2000.
  • Comprehensive court reports typically take 8 – 20 hours of work and are only possible after discussion of your needs and considering if the practice has capacity for the specific type of work at the time of enquiry.
